WhatsApp Chat Plugin Review
WhatsApp Chat is a freemium WordPress chat plugin. It means, there’s a free version (WP Social Chat) with limited features and a complete premium version with more advanced features. These plugins are created and managed by a development company called QuadLayers.
For beginners and personal bloggers, the free version is good enough. But a business might want to use the Premium version plugin.
Right now, more than 70,000 folks around the globe are using the free version plugin.
Plus, have more than 260 star-ratings.
It tells us so many folks are loving the plugin. If the free version with limits got these many ratings, the premium version would be much better!
And in this article, we are about to review the premium version plugin.
Installation Process
Installing the plugin is pretty simple. First, go to the plugins section and click on Add New.
In the search bar, type WP Social Chat. And when the server shows you results, install the plugin on your blog.
Once you got installed the plugin, activate it.
You are done!
In the left menu, you could see the plugin settings then.
This is how you can install and activate the free version plugin.
Now, we are going to show you how you can install the premium version WP WhatsApp Chat. From their website, purchase the premium version plugin. After that, you will be able to log in to your QuadLayers account, download the premium version plugin.
Then, go to the add new plugins section and upload the plugin file.
After installing it, simply activate the plugin.
Remember that you would want to keep the free version plugin installed and activated. And you will be redirected to the premium plugin configurations now.
Simple!
From here, you can configure the plugin. For receiving updates from the plugin author, you might want to consider entering your license key and order email in the configuration wizard.
You can retrieve your license key by logging in to your account. Also, use your login email as the order email. You are good to go once you authenticate the purchase.
Anyway, we do have a guide on installing plugins on WordPress. So if you are a beginner and need a detailed article, feel free to check it out.
Features
Now, let’s take a look at their features.
Easy Management
Managing the plugin is pretty simple. No need to write any code for integrating, styling. Everything can be done through our WordPress admin area.
Display Rules
An advanced feature that is available on the WhatsApp chat premium plugin – Display Rules.
Would you like to hide the chatbox for mobile devices? Or desktop devices?
Using this feature, you could do it!
On top of that, we can include/ exclude the chatbox appearing from our homepage, blog page, specific posts, specific pages, or even specific categories.
Everything can be customized from this section.
Multiple Contacts
If you are having a lot of clients, handling all of them via a single WhatsApp account might not be helpful. In that case, you can mention multiple accounts through plugin settings. By default, the plugin will show you a dummy contact.
You can edit it and make it yours or delete the entire contact and create a brand new one. Adding unlimited contacts are possible. So when a visitor opens your WhatsApp chatbox, he’ll see all available agents. As an example, we have added two more agents to the settings.
And when we check the website from the frontend, all agents will be there instantly.
This is a cool feature!
Chat Box Customization
You have two settings there.
- Directly Link To WhatsApp.
- Enable Chat Box.
When you directly link to WhatsApp, every visitor who clicks on the icon will be redirected to the WhatsApp application or WhatsApp web. It is totally according to the device he uses.
On the other hand, you can enable th chatbox. So when someone clicks on the icon, a fancy box will appear with a pre-set message.
The header and footer of the fancy box can be customized. You can enter a personal message in the header. By default, the footer will be there with a powered by link. You can remove it or change it to a custom message.
Button and Icons Styling
You do have control over your buttons and icons.
If you are still wondering where would be these customizations go, it would be here:
So right now, our layout is set to button. If I change it to bubble and save the changes, it would reflect in the frontend.
Plus, the position can always be managed. But, we recommend you keep the chat button in the right bottom section. Another necessary customization is with the icons.
If you click the add icon button, you could see all the available options there.
Click on the Save button to save your changes.
Color Customization
Changing the color of the WhatsApp chat box is essential.
According to our website’s colors, we can modify the current box, blend it with our website’s styling.
Usually, when we need to style our website, we probably might want to add additional CSS to the WordPress customizer manually. But here, everything can be customized without writing a single line of code!
In the plugin settings, we can see a section for styling.
From there, you could manage the styling of
- Background.
- Link.
- Label.
- Name.
- Message.
Etc.
After modifying, save the changes.
The new changes will reflect in the frontend almost instantly.
Also, if the changes are not here yet, it must be an issue with your caching system. Clear your WordPress cache, and you are good to go!
NOTE: While you add a WhatsApp number to this plugin, it would be visible for all the website visitors. So, don’t use a phone number you want to keep private.
Pricing
As I said above, the free version if free for a lifetime. But, using the free version on an eCommerce website or business website is not recommended. For more power and features, we would recommend the WhatsApp Chat Pro version.
And In March 2020, they have three premium plans.
- Personal – $15.
- Agency – $30.
- Developer – $60.
One plus point is, once you purchased the premium version, you own it.
No recurring payments!
Most WordPress based companies are not doing this. They prefer recurring payments. After the subscription ends, you need to pay them again for using their product or service.
Here on QuadLayers, they don’t have anything like that.
Also, the pricing is much cheaper according to other popular plugins in the market.
You might want to choose a plan according to your use. With the Personal plan, you can use the premium plugin on only one website. With the Agency and Developer plan, you can change the activation count to 5 and unlimited, respectively.
All features are available in those plans.
Support and Updates
In premium plans, they provide six months of priority support. But, you can always extend it. Raise a support ticket, and they will get back to you. Also, once you have got activated the premium version plugin, you will get lifetime updates!
From your WordPress updates page, you could easily update the plugin.
On the other hand, they won’t support the free version plugin. If you got some issues regarding the plugin, you could use the WP Social Chat support forum.
All you need to do is, create a topic, and explain your issue there. One of their support members will be there for you with a solution.
