Brevo Review: Best Email Automation for Beginners
When you begin your blogging career or learn to market online, you will have a tough time finding the right email marketing service. No email marketing service is completely free. And the ones that offer free email marketing (like open source) lack many advanced features.
Brevo is an email marketing service, which I found suitable for my site, and right now, I am using it for BlogHeist.

What Are The Features of Brevo?
Brevo has attractive features like Drag and Drop Email Designer, Segmenting contacts, advanced Campaign reporting, transactional reporting, etc.
Email Designer:
Brevo has a Drag and Drop email designer. So, you don’t need to be an HTML expert in designing colorful and attractive email designs.
Also, you can preview your email designs for various devices like smartphones, tablets, and desktops. This will help you ensure that your email designs are responsive.
If you don’t want to put your hands on designing your email campaign, you can always choose one from the already available templates.

The reporting system is not limited to its features. They display these reports in real-time, which most email marketing services lack. You can export these reports as PDF and CSV as well.

Brevo has excellent customer support. They don’t have a live chat feature, but I still got a clear reply with proper instructions.

How to Signup for Brevo?
To get started with Brevo, just follow these steps.
Step 1: Visit Brevo Homepage. And click on the “Signup for Free” button.
Step 2: Register your account using Email and create a password or you can sign up with your Google and Apple accounts.
Step 3: After signing up, you’ll receive an onboarding email on your registered email. Next, you’ll give some basic information like your name, company name (you can write your own name if aren’t working for the company), website (optional), etc.
Next, fill in your address and tap on Next
Step 4: Now, give business-related information like the number of employees, and how many contacts you have (people who will receive emails). Tick on Yes or No, if you sell online or not (e-commerce), lastly agree to their privacy policy after reading and tap on continue.
Now, verify your phone number with OTP.
Step 5: Select a plan, on which you want to continue. Scroll down and select the plan you want.

Once your onboarding process is completed, you’ll be redirected to the dashboard to start your email marketing campaign.
But, to send an Email Campaign, you must first create an email list and add your email subscribers.

How to Create an Email List in Brevo?
To create an Email List, go to the Contacts section from the left sidebar and choose Import Contacts at the upper left-hand side.
You will be redirected to the next screen, where you will get three options.
All these are for bulk uploading, if you want to add a single contact, you can follow these steps: Go to Contacts > Create a Contact.
- Import a file: If you want to import your contacts from CSV, xlsx, or txt file.
- Copy-Paste: Simply copy-paste your contacts and it will find email addresses from that data.
- Import from Another Tool: If you were using another email marketing tool, you can use this option, you can integrate that tool with Brevo and have access to your email list.
After importing your contacts, the next step will be Mapping the data.
It’s an automatic process, you need to give attributes to your data. For example, EMAIL (If it is an email list data)

Lastly, select a list
If you don’t have a list tap on Create a list. After that, tap on Confirm your list
Now, Finalize your import…
Customize your content management settings, tick on I confirm that… (Brevo has an Opt-in Agreement that the email subscribers you import should have explicitly given you permission to send them emails. That means that you should not buy email addresses from third parties. Instead, you should allow them to subscribe to your newsletter.) tap on Confirm your import.
How to Send an Email Campaign in Brevo?
To create a new Email Campaign, go to the Campaigns section, and choose the Email menu.
In the next window, tap on Create an email campaign.
Give your email campaign a name.
You will be redirected to the following screen after creating a campaign.

Below is the meaning of the following terms:
- Sender: It’s you, here you can edit your name and email address that will appear to recipients.
- Recipients: To start your email campaign you need to select a list of recipients; you want to send these emails. Click on Add Recipients > Select the List (If you have any). By selecting on Advance option, you can also do segmentation.
- Subject: Add your subject line (now, you can use AI too, tap on Use AI)
- Design: It’s about selecting and designing your email template, let’s see this in brief in the next step.
Designing Email Campaign
In the next step, you will have to choose how to design your email.
Tap on start designing, you will see multiple options from selecting from a template gallery to coding your own using Rich Text Editor or HTML Editor.
You can either use a Drop & Drop Editor or Rich Text Editor or simply paste your HTML code.
For this tutorial, I will show how to use the Pre-made templates and customize them with a drag-and-drop tool.
The Drag and Drop Builder has templates to reduce your time creating campaigns. Choose the one that you feel is relevant. If you don’t like any of these templates, go on with the default one.
Brevo’s drag-and-drop editor is quite simple, you can drag the blocks to drop them where you want to customize them. Additionally, you can also use AI tool for generating text and titles.
Once you have done this, click “Save and Quit.”

In the next window, check the preview of your campaign. If you need to make any changes, edit the email design again. Once you are satisfied with the design of your campaign, click “Next Step.”
Scheduling Email Campaign:
If you want to do any additional settings, you can tap on it, and more personalization, etc.
Now, tap on Schedule beside your campaign name in the upper left corner.
In the popup you get, you can choose whether you want to send the campaign now or choose the time when you want the campaign to be sent. Another option is Send at the best time, in this option Brevo will select the best time according to the engagement of the user. To get maximum engagement.
When you decide on the time, click “Confirm.”
Since your Brevo account has not been validated yet, the first campaign will be sent only after approval from the Brevo Review Team. Once you have successfully cleared the review, you won’t face this waiting time again.
That’s how you create a Campaign in Brevo.

My Experience with Brevo:
As mentioned earlier, I found Brevo’s pricing and features very comfortable. I can reuse my templates, which is time-saving.
The list management is the best here. I can instantly track who opened and who clicked. Also, the system segregated the blacklist contacts instantly on the first campaign itself.
I have connected my Bloom with Brevo so that all emails collected through my Bloom will directly go into my Brevo list.
I am very satisfied with Brevo.
Features to be improved in Brevo:
This is concerned with the Automation feature of Brevo. Though the workflow allows conditional logic, it is not yet possible to combine multiple conditions. This is leading to a lot more complexity. I hope Brevo comes up with a solution for this as soon as possible.
And the next one is the automatic detection of First Names. To simplify attracting more leads, we collect only email addresses. But, often, while sending email campaigns, we need the First name of the audience. A feature to automatically detect the First name would be much more helpful.
